As a natural aggregation point - a Cardano town square - Intersect allows firms and organizations making contributions to the ecosystem to raise and elevate their voices on how Cardano should evolve.

Collaboration and consensus building are key themes leading Cardano forward. The road to Voltaire is an exciting one, with many processes and hurdles to overcome requiring community wide engagement. By empowering ada holders with the proper resources and opportunities to engage in the protocol’s development, Cardano continues to hit its milestones and is setting new industry standards for on-chain governance.
At the base of Cardano’s ever-expanding platform are principles that exist for the purpose of fostering an open and decentralized blockchain network that is built for the people, by the people. Cardano’s journey towards the age of Voltaire and the era of on-chain governance has been as much about addressing the challenges of governance as it is about seeking consensus on what an open, community-led ecosystem means. Through collective actions, such as steering committees, Intersect – Cardano’s member-based organization tasked with preserving the protocol’s continuity and ongoing development – provides opportunities for community members to make decisions about Cardano’s future, together.
Showcased at the recent NFTxLV event, the Voltaire GovTool serves as a valuable resource to advancing community building on Cardano. By creating a user-friendly interface that enables ADA holders to directly interact with CIP-1694, and easily register as Delegated Representatives (DReps), delegate voting power to DReps, and review governance actions, collaboration and democratic decision making will soon be a streamlined process for the entire community to enjoy.
A truly decentralized blockchain protocol must embrace a governance model that fosters collaboration and democratic consent every step of the way. Alongside alignment around core principles, processes, organizations and mechanisms, effective governance requires tools to promote community engagement and provide the technical ‘plumbing’ for building consensus across the Cardano ecosystem.
Designed as a collaborative environment for the Cardano community, learnings and developments from SanchoNet will be key to advancing governance for Cardano. SanchoNet welcomes some big names this month including Adam Dean as a maintainer to the testnet. Additionally, Blockfrost now provides access to SanchoNet through its API. Thank you to Marek and team for your contributions. This is an exciting update for the Cardano community, as it eases building for the developers in the ecosystem.
Cardano has always had its vision set on fostering an ecosystem that champions community collaboration and decentralized innovation. This year in particular marks a formative period in Cardano’s timeline as more community members have rolled up their sleeves and participated in the advancement of the Cardano protocol than ever before. The Voltaire journey is as much about addressing the challenges of governance as it is about seeking consensus on how we best address these and the community’s valued contributions and continued support have been the driving force for Cardano’s ongoing progress.
SanchoNet officially launched on August 16, kicking off its phased rollout to support the technical development of CIP-1694. SanchoNet serves as a controlled development environment for the Cardano community to safely experience and give feedback on the on-chain capabilities required for participatory governance. Beyond the development of these features, SanchoNet will in time also enable the integration of community-built tools with the platform. Designed as a collaborative environment for the Cardano community, learnings and developments from SanchoNet will be key in advancing Cardano ever closer to minimum viable governance.
The final stage of the original Cardano roadmap, Voltaire, is set to enact the next generation of governance that fully unlocks the Cardano community’s contributions, fostering a self-sustaining system. Voltaire encapsulates Cardano's ideals of participation, empowerment, and inclusive accountability, guided by a principles-first approach and led by the community.
Over the last six months, the Cardano community actively collaborated on building the next era of minimum viable governance (MVG) through a series of 50 global community workshops that concluded with a final covening in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Decentralization is a big idea that aims to alter the balance of power by transitioning away from traditional institutions and empowering individuals. It is a core deliverable and key mission for many blockchain projects. The technology exhibits decentralization as it is spread across multiple nodes run by multiple entities offering network empowerment within a system that grows organically with its user base. What about the user base? How are decisions made about the evolution of the blockchain?
As the Cardano ecosystem readies itself to welcome in the age of Voltaire, a brand-new member-based organization has launched with the purpose of creating a new generation of tools for supercharging community participation in Cardano governance. Its name: Intersect.
12th July, 2023: A member-based organization for the Cardano ecosystem, Intersect, opens the call for members to join and advance Cardano’s core technology, and develop a roadmap for the future of Cardano.
Intersect will be a home for the Cardano’s future development and an aggregation point for community governance
